One match was all it took

Two days, three machines, four goodbyes

One more step, she was free

He was waiting there, tail wagging.

Like clockwork, she always kept going

It was cold, but nobody minded

Their story didn't have to end

I locked it away, like everything

The can spilled, that was it

Keep going, even if I'm gone

Look for me, wherever you go

Her scars were all she had

Not sleep, not dreams, but life

One tunnel down, five to go

One paper was all she needed

Peak, valley, and a permanent plain

Breathe deep and count with me

The covers were just not enough

I thought they would never stop

What a nutshell I live in

This is it, all of it

Take it away Ern, please, please.

One breath can dim the light

She never took it back home

I love having secrets, not telling

Triumph, she took to the wind

Blew me away, and set sail

Sunset to sunrise, dusk to dawn

Into the darkness, mystery set in

Imagination speckled her mind, like freckles

Dreams speckled her mind like stars

It rolled right off her tongue

A bead of sweat, for instance

Tales of a bygone era, stolen

He took all his time with

He tapered down and it fell

One look was all they had

Punched that shit in the face

You cannot carry it all lightly

Hold this heart, don't let go

Just hold fast, if nothing else
